One family that I have seen many times in researching my ancestors is William Faulkner born 1575 and died before 1638. He was a citizen and draper of London and also an ancestor of William C. Faulkner, author, of Oxford, Lafayette, Mississippi. Many in my family believe that we are related to William C. Faulkner, author. Other members of the family are sure that we are not related to his family.

William Faulkner, born 1575, married Elizabeth Filmer (1592-1665), daughter of Sir Edward and Lady Elizabeth Argall Filmer. William and Elizabeth had a son named John Faulkner, Sr., born 1628 in Wales, died 1708 in Maryland. John married Elizabeth Filmer, daughter of Reginald and Jane Travis Filmer. Reginald is the son of Sir Edward and Lady Elizabeth Argall Filmer. Reginald and Jane named their daughter in honor of his mother.

John Faulkner, Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth had three sons when they arrived at Hog Pen's Neck Maryland aboard the ship "Agreement" on 22 Jan 1665 with their two servants, Eliza Bloxom and Thomas Jones. They paid for their passage with 300 pounds of tobacco.

Son #1--Francis (about 1648-1786) I don't have much information on him. He may have moved to North Carolina.

Son #2--Thomas (about 1655-1709) Thomas married Margary Anne. He may have owned plantations named Folkner Folly, Folkner Square and Folkner's Levels. Notice the change of name. There are many variations of the spelling of this name: Faulkner/Falkner/Fortner/Forkner/Falconner, etc.

Son #3--John, Jr. (about 1653-1726) John, Jr. married Sarah Elizabeth Forde.
