Obituary for Frederick Polhill Coleman
MR F. P. COLEMAN.

The death of Mr F. P. Coleman, which occurred at Riverside, Broomfield, recently, removes a well-known and widely respected farmer in the Amberley district. He was the fourth son of the late Mr Samuel Coleman and was born at Broomfield in 1878. On the death of his father he took up farming pursuits. He was always interested in the welfare of the district, and was a prominent member of the Church of England, occupying the position of vicar's warden for more than 20 years. He was a vice-president of the Amberley Racing Club, a pastpresident of the Amberley Agricultural and Pastoral Association, chairman of the Waihi Takaroa Domain Board, and a member of the Kowai Domain Board. He also served on the Broomfield School Committee, and was all executive officer of the local branch of the Farmers' Union. For many years he took an active interest in the sporting clubs of the district, being a member of both the cricket and football clubs, and a life member of the tennis club. He is survived by his wife, four sons, and daughter. The funeral was held on Wednesday, when, after a short service at the Church of the Holy Innocents, Amberley, where the vicar, the Rev. E. E. Maiden, officiated, the cortege proceeded to Balcairn, where the Rev. C. A. Tobin, the first resident vicar of Amberley, officiated at the graveside. The pall-bearers were members of the church vestry, Messrs F. H. Courage, I. F. Croft, O. Harrison, S. Gardiner, H. E. Parsons, and D. C. Gardiner. Wreaths were sent by the Vestry, Amberley Racing Club, Tennis Club, Cricket Club, Football Club, Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Waihi Takaroa Domain Board, Kowai Domain Board, mum'and family, sisters at Riverside, Ben and family.
