Hi Keitha,
A family tree for Iharata Te Tuku (1861-1921) born in the Waikato (with photo). She was a daughter of Ihakara Te Tuku (1825-1890), from Otorohanga & Maata Pouaru (1832-), also known as "Manta", "Mata Pouaru Te Tihi"
She married Wiremu Kingi Te Matakatea, a Ngatiawa chief?
If you go to that link you will see more and maybe send then a message
This is a son, Ihakara Te Tuku Rapana (1886-1968), known as Ike Robin, born at Wairoa, Ngati Kahungunu and Ngati Raukawa; shearer, lay reader, wrestler
Kia ora, Ihakara Te Tuku Rapana was my gr grandfather. His father was Rapana Te Tuku and lived in Heretaunga/Hastings. From whanau stories, Rapana also had two uncles here who were master carvers. In the research I've been doing on early Heretaunga, I can't help but think they came here during the inter tribal wars of that time, maybe early 1800s with either Te Whatanui of Ngati Raukawa or Rewi Maniapoto who shares the same hapu, Pare te Kawa. I have been looking for any links or stories that back up my thinking hence here I am. I am tuturu Ngati Kahungunu but can't help but wonder about our whanau's Te Tuku side too. Nga mihi e te whanaunga.
