Query by rmhardin

Looking for possible living relatives of my great-grandfather Adam Skeldon Greig, born 1874 in Auchendinny, Midlothian. Died 1944, Bury, England.

He married Annie Wilson in 1900, and they had two children, James (1901), and Dinah (1904) (my grandmother.)

According to the 1891 census, Adam had a number of siblings: Thomas (1864), Elizabeth (1870), Marion (1872), James (1877), Janet (1879) and George (1882).

I haven't been able to trace any descendants of Adam's other children, but maybe somebody out there knows something? Thanks :)

EDIT: the last sentence should read:
I haven't been able to trace any descendants of Adam's brothers or sisters, but maybe somebody out there knows something?

''I haven't been able to trace any descendants of Adam's other children'' did you mean children or siblings?

Hi Noggin
Many thanks for your reply. You are of course correct in your assumption that I was referring to Adam's "siblings" instead of "children" as I already have that information. I'll collate the details you've given me (I didn't know Adam's date of birth, so thanks for that!) with my records and post again later. :)

And, double thanks for correcting Adam's middle name. My mistake was copying "Sheldon" from a wrongly-transcribed marriage record. On close inspection of (a scan of) the actual document, I was able to confirm that his middle name was indeed Skeldon, so I'm very grateful for the correction. :)

I have only just found this and realise its been a while since the request was written but heres hoping that you get the message. Adam Skeldon Greig was the son of Marion Skeldon and James Greig who left Auchendinny and went to live in Lancashire. Marion was my Great grandfather Robert Richardson Skeldons sister. Marion was 2 years older than Robert, and their parents were Adam Skeldon born 1811 in Oldhamstocks, and Margaret (Richardson) Skeldon born C1805 Duns. Adam senior was a ploughman.
