Looking for HOSE

I am looking for any information on my family HOSE.

My greatgrandfathers name was William Joseph Hose and lived in Te Kuiti/Waitomo area. From what i have gathered his fathers name was Silas Hose and his mothers name was Sarah Elizabeth. They had a number of Children but i am unsure of how many. I believe his first wife was Thyrza nee Carpenter but he remarried to Makere Hose.
Brian george Hose was my grandfathers name his first wife was Pourahui Kirimangu nee Tata who had my mother Te Waiarani Olive Victoria HEMANA nee hose. He then went on to Marry Francis Tynan and they had a number of children together.

I know that Brian George Hose was born in Te Awamutu but am unable to find any other information about his parents or brothers and sisters.

My mother remembers being told that Brian George Hose was in an orphanage until his fathers second wife went and got him out.

If any one can help me please that would be Awesome

Hi, Rita Lavinia Phillips nee Hose was my grandmother. Alex Phillips is my father, Penelope was my mother. I remember meeting Nancy when I was a child in Otahuhu while visiting nana Phillips. I also remember as a teenager visiting my fathers cousins in Amberly, Sth Island and an Aunt and Uncle of my Dads down that way too, 1979-80, if I recall correctly. I would like to know more about my nana and her family surname Hose. I only know bits and pieces but I would welcome any information of the family, her parents, grandparents etc and how they came to be in New Zealand and from where they came. She had 13-15 children not sure exactly on the correct number, over half have passed away now, my Dad is still alive and living in Sydney, Australia and he is not too good with his history! Mum passed away January 1995. my email; carolynzmail5@gmail.com Thankyou, Carolyn Matila nee Phillips.

Hi Rita Phillips nee Hose was my grandmother - she had 16 children and was Rita Hose before she married poppa. My mother Valerie was her eldest daughter - second eldest child. Nan died in Hamilton in the 1990s while mum died in Rotorua in 2008.
Nan was an amazing woman who taught the women in this family about strength and survival.
I do have some info if you would like to get on touch. I am a journalist and have doen some research on the family.

Hello Carolyn and Cherie,

I knew your 'Nan' and her husband, I think we called him 'Horrie' but please don't quote that, I may be wrong. I knew Penelope, and really liked her a lot. She used to live I Devonport I believe, Val was lovely, though I didn't meet her very often. I remember Alex, Billy and Winnie, they lived at Horotiu, Billy drove the 'Blue Buses', Elizabeth (Liz) Dorothy (Dot) and ? Cobb. Visited them often, they lived at Melville, Hamilton, there was Lenny as well and Graeme/Graham, and probably others but the passage of time and I cannot remember all their names, oh yes and Alfie, Alfred Ronald. He and I married in 1964 and our marriage ended the same year.

Your Nan lived in Tonar Street, Northcote in 1964, and probably for longer. I last saw her when she was working at the Waikato Hospital, gosh in the 70's, and I saw Alfie then as well.

I am our family historian so can appreciate the work required to find ones ancestors. I wish you every success as you delve into the past. I guess I'm fortunate that as I came from Wales, I have a reasonably good knowledge of things back home and with family still there have the necessary contacts that are so important.

God bless you both, my condolences on the passing of Penelope, and Val and my regards to Alex.

Phyllis Pearson, formerly Phillips née Robinson.
