She was an american indian married to Dr Hilario Hongo, one of the first Natchitoches chinese. They had several children: Eli, Joseph, Mary who married Overton Perot, John, and Victoria. They lived in the Campti/Natchitoches LA area. It is said, when the government ran the choctaw out of Louisiana and made them go to Oklahoma, they took Azelie, but did not take her children since they were considered Chinese. I cannot find any information about her parents or siblings nor if she lived through the roundup to go to Oklahoma. She is listed as black on the census of 1860?yr
