Looking for Hugh Rae born 1836 Domoch Firth. Scotland. Any information on children, John, Mary, Janet, Robert, Margaret, Hugh, Catherine and Edward. Hugh was an Engine driver. Died 1910 in Carlisle. Hugh has the beard.

I believe that my father, Donald Hugh Macleod was Catherine Rae's son. He came to Canada in the early 1900's and married my mother, Anne Langley Dewick, from Manchester, UK. Hugh must have been his father-in-law. This is based on the information
on my father's death certificate which I located today. (Sept. 15, 2012) This needs to be substantiated, though.

Thank you for your reply, I have had nothing at all on Catherine, I have found out that my grandfather Edward Rae was not a son of Hugh but a son of his daughter Janet. On the 1891 Census it shows Edward as the son of Hugh and Jane Young, it lead me astray as on Grandfather's birth certificate there was no father just Mother Janet, on a lot of postcards only signed by Janet so I was really sure he was a child of a single mother. The only info I have on Catherine is born in 1880 in Cumberland, Carlisle. England and died 1931 Vancouver, Canada. I hope this will open up more info on Catherine. Looking forward to hearing more.
