LOOKING FOR RUSHIN/RUSHING FAMILY

Query by melodyrushin

Daughter of Joe D. Rushin 1944-1999 (Texas)His father William Roley Rushin 1890-1967(born in TN or AR/died in TX)He married (1st)unknown, (2nd)Ellie/Ellen, (3rd)Eulene Shelton, (4th)Ruby Shelton. Both the first and third wives died shortly after the marriage. Eulene was Ruby's older sister. Had four children by Ellie/Ellen, Haskel, Raymon, Lucille, and girl child that died very young. He had three children by Ruby Shelton. Daisy, Joe D., and Josey (1944-1955)Josey was Joe D's twin. William Roley told Daisy he was named William after his father and was born in "the hills" of Tennessee. He said his mother died when he was aged four by gaingreen. His father remarried and the new wife was abusive so he left home in his early teens and headed for TX and never went back. However, the only records found was 1920 and 1930 census with his wife Ellen/Ellie and the three children, and texas death record. I found Texas census of a William R with a father being Phillip Rushin and mother Mary J. But this does not fit the story he told to his daughter Daisy. It said he was born in Arkansas not Tennessee and Mary J. was still living. However, the census indicated he had a sister Melinda. After his death Daisy found a letter from a Melinda Buchanan from Ft. Worth, TX. When Daisy called her she confirmed William Roley was a stepbrother. Was his father Phillip or William? Was he born in TN or AR? Was his mother Mary J or was she a stepmother? Also Rumor has it that his father was one of the siblings to drop the G from the Rushing name.
