Lowen and Loan family of Bath County Virginia

There is a major clan of families named LOAN and LOWEN who are descendants of John and Susan Loan/Lowen of Bath County, Virginia. John and Susan moved to Bath County, Virginia between 1810 and 1820. John died in 1829, and left his widow and five children. The surname was spelled in various ways, and still today, half of the family spells in Lowen, and the other half Loan. After 30 years of researching not only our line from western Virginia, as well as all Loans and Lowens, I have not been able to determine who John descended from, or where he lived prior to moving to Bath County, Virginia.

Lowen and Loan families are being researched. Primary interest is the Loan & Lowen clan from Bath County, Virginia, but also researching all Loans and Lowens in the USA.

poorone on 2011-07-12 09:34:29I suggest looking on rootsweb as I found a John Loan...they indicate birth before 1775, Kentucky.
I suggest emailing this person who submitted this tree as you are related and he may have further information that he has not updated yet.
After this I suggest looking at Ancestry. Some libraries have Ancestry on their data bases, and family history centres have it too.
