I have been researching my MACKENZIE family tree on and of since 1993. The majority who settled in the Masterton area spelt it McKenzie. My parents.
Reginald Earl m Phyllis Ida KNOWLES.
Reg's parents were Nathley MACKENZIE and Violet Victoria Agnes COCKBURN [Queenie]
Nathley's parents were
John MCKENZIE and Noami Elizabeth DUCKETT.
John's parents were,
Alexander MCKENZIE and Mary GOLLAN.
Alexander and a Mr Yule established the Knox Church in Masterton.
Also my maternal line KNOWLES. Both family's were early settlers in the Masterton and Carterton areas of Wairarapa NZ.

Some dates and place to help your readers BDMacK
Alexander McKenzie (1803-1876) & Mary Gollan (1811-1890) were from Scotland. They married in 1834. They are buried Archer Street cemetery, Masterton

* A son of Alexander & Mary, John McKenzie (1847-1934) was born in Scotland. He married Naomi Elizabeth Duckett (1855-1938) in 1876 & had at least 11 children. They are buried Archer Street cemetery, Masterton

* A son of John & Naomi, Nathley McKenzie (1898-1959) was born in Masterton. He first married Violet Victoria Agnes 'Queenie' Cockburn (1902-1937) from Rongotea, in 1923 & had 2 sons. Violet died in Lower Hutt aged 33 & buried in Taita Old Cemetery. Nathley next married Eileen Isabel Medder (1908-1985) from Southland, in 1939. They died in Lower Hutt.

* A son of Nathley & Queenie, Reginald Earl McKenzie (1924-2009) married Phyllis Ida Knowles (1925-2016) in 1946. They are buried in Clareville cemetery, Carterton

Are you related to this line of McKenzie's?
I'm originally from Carterton and was fortunate to have the assistance of the older generation McKenzie's before they passed away.
