I have been researching my family for many years and am at a dead end. I have the line back to George Scales born in the 1780's in either Virginia or the Carolinas. He then lived in Elbert, Georgia. I cannnot find his parents. I am almost certain he belongs to a Thomas and Ann Scales but cannot find solid evidence to support my suspicions. I have found a George listed a few times as thier child but the birth date does not match the one I have for George, but is similiar. There is no more info on him ever listed. However, what leads me to believe he belongs with this family is that both a Thomas and several of what I believe would be George's siblings are names are listed in censuses of the same area. The time frame and names seem to match up pretty well, and there seem to be no other Scales in the area that do match. I just wonder why there is such good documentation on the other children but not George. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.
