- Selina was a daughter of John HYNES and Catherine CONDON

I beleive James Smart a sea captian died in 1877 in a ship wreak of the Clan Alpine he would have been 45 years old. he was the husband of Christina (Grant) father of George James Cruickshank Smart of Wyndham. Partner in Cruickshank Smart and founder of The New Zealand Shipping Company

No the James Smart you are talking about married to Christina (Grant) then Wright then Commons then Smart, was my great great grandmother and James Smart was born 10th October 1832 at St Andrews Scotland arriving in Nz on board "Eclispe" on 26 th June 1854.Married Christina on 10th August 1860 Grey Street Auckland NZ.Had 4 boys Robert dob 29th May 1861DOD 30th June 1944,James jnr DOB 10th Jan 1863 DOD 29th August 1921,David William DOB 22nd September 1864 DOD 23rd Feb 1922,George James Cruickshank DOB 27th March 1867 DOD 13th August 1937. James Smart snr died in Lumsden NZ on 20th Feb 1911,with Christina DOD 7th June 1900 at Devonport Auckland burried at Purewa Auckland.
