Willie Green married to Martha in 1870. 9 children listed in the census. Would like to find parents of Willie and Martha and their siblings. Peyton age 16 is my great grandfather. I would like to find out about his brothers and sisters and who they married. In 1850 census the family is listed as 5 children and Willie is listed as Willis. There is also 3 other families listed, Lucian, Jeremiah, and Jonas, are these brothers of Willis? They are all in the York District of South Carolina.

Two of their sons were Peyton H. Green and Jerry Myer Greene.

Peyton Green married Arthilla A. Murphy and they had 3 sons, John W., Paten and James A. They moved to Rutherford Co. NC. Jerry Myer Greene married Mary W. Pressley or Pursley. They had a son Lovelace Cornelius Greene, Sr. who married Mary Elizabeth Owens. I do not know any more children in this branch of the family.

Edward Carroll was listed as 26 years old in 1870 census of Gaston County North Carolins. His wife was Barbara A. Evans. He had 2 sons. John William and James Edward. He died in the Spring of 1871 before his second son was born. John William is my Grandfather.

Barbara was the daughter of Moses Evans and she married Martin Van Buren Johnson in 1876. They had 4 children. A son was listed in 1880 as 13 years old ( France R. ). Who was his mother?

By the 2 boys being very young we have no history of the Carroll family. That is why we are at a dead end looking for Edward's parents. No luck in finding them in an earlier census.

I am trying to find information on George Washington Shipman. His date of birth is April 25, 1885, Tenn. on his death certificate. His parents are listed as Charles Shipman and Ethel Linda Mills. I have also been told his Grandfather was Billie Mills. I also have the name Charles Shipman with a wife Nancy and a G.W. Shipman with wife Belinda in Randolph County of NC.

George married Rosa Minnie Owensby who was the daughter of William Lee Owensby and Florence L. DePriest. I have some information on the Owensby and DePriest families thanks to Dean Blackwell who is looking for information on his Blackwells and the Shipmans.
