I have embarked on a search for my grandfather with the help of a professional genealogist. I know 'next to nothing' about Victor other than he was born in approximately 1898, probably in British India, and married Margaret Violet Pitt in Quetta in 1933. My father Reginald Walter King was born in Quetta in 1934. There are no birth records having apparently been destroyed in a fire. My father's last contact with Victor was at the age of 4. The marriage between Victor and Margaret apparently failed and she took young Reginald back to the UK. Reginald never heard or saw of his father again. After Margaret's death in 1980 a letter was found amongst her possessions. It was from a woman called Terry King and she used the address of C/- Bank of India Jubblepore. The letter was 'years old' and my father wrote back to the address but never got a response. Terry could have been a relative/second wife for Victor. We know that Victor worked on the railways - Northwest Railways? What sort of records might there be that I could access? Divorce records, employment records for the railway? The only document that I have been able to turn up is information about the marriage between Victor and Margaret in 1933. After this, I cannot find any information at all about Victor. Your thoughts please?
