Looking for Irish immigrants who settled in Oregon in 1851.

My great grandfather, James Casey, was born in County Louth, Ireland in 1827. He immigrated to this country through the port of New Orleans in 1849 and came west to Oregon City, Or. on the Aaron Ross wagon train in 1851. He worked as a blacksmith and married Ellen Fagan (Feigen?)who was born in County Longford, Ireland Dec. 25, 1929 and immigrated to Oregon in 1852, on May 19,1853. They managed the Cliff House in Oregon City and moved to their Donation Land Grant of 320 acres in Woodburn, Oregon Dec. 25, 1854.

The had 13 children but I only have the names of 9 who survived to adulthood. They are: Catherine who married Nicholas Miller, Bartholomew, Josephine who married Lee Campbell, John J., Anna whose married name was Provost, Sara (Sadie) who married John B. Coe, Mary Jane who became a nun named Sister Placida, Thomas J., Margaret (Maggie) who married Charles Allen.

I have found correspondence that suggests he became politically influential and was a prosperous farmer. They were married over 53 years and it was said in his obituary that "the Casey home has been known for years to one of the most hospitable homes in this section...)

Where do you go after inputing a name with birth/date/marriage dates

you know to be accurate and yet no records are found?
