The Nawns of Porto Gallon County Fermanagh Northern Ireland

Query

My great great grandfather H?gh Nawn came to Australia on ship 'The Queen of Colonies' arriving at Moreton Bay Queensland on 14th October 1856.

He came from Porto Galloon County Fermanagh Northern Ireland his parents were Hugh and Julia Nawn (nee Boyle)
My grandmother told me that he had a brother and a cousin that went to America and settled around the Boston area - so I concentrated on that area - I found out recently his brothers name was Thomas and lived in New Hampshire out of New York - but haven't come up with his cousin s yet. I would love to know if he had any other family and more info on the Boyles. If anyone can help I would appreciate it - I have a new email address jmts.601@gmail.com

Regards
June

Houlihan _ Myers Families

Looking for relatives of Lawrence and Mary Houlihan (nee Myers) who came from Cashel or Clonmel Tipperary Ireland. Mary Myers Houlihans sister Kate Myers married James Smith from Watton Hertfordshire England. Their brother John married Anne Cashen from Cashel Tipperary. Their Parents are Thomas and Catherine Myers (nee Meagher). Thomas Myers could have been a German Ship Captain. In later years he was known as Capt. Thomas Myers and lived at 5 Anne Street Clonmel Tipperary Ireland.

Looking for Smith's from Watton Hertfordshire England

My great great grandfather James Smith was born in Hertfordshire about 1837 he came to Australia in the 1860's. He married Kate Myers from Tipperary Ireland at All Saints Church of England St.Kilda Melbourne Victoria Australia on the 11th October,1867. Their marriage certificate shows that his father was William Smith and his mother Charlotte Smith from Watton Hertfordshire England. If I have the right Smiths he had 2 other brothers the eldest brother George born abt 1832 and a younger brother William born abt 1839. William and Charlotte are great great grandparents to Margaret Smith Court a Wimbledon Champion and winner of 62 Grand Slam Tennis Titles.

Nawns from County Fermanagh Northern Ireland

Hugh Nawn migrated to Australia leaving London on 21st July 1856. He came from Ports - Gallon County Fermanagh Northern Ireland- His parents as far as I know were Hugh and Julia Nawn (nee Boyle) - My grandmother told me that her father told her that he had a brother and a cousin who went to America and settled around the Boston area. Hugh married Mary Jane Dochard from Bourke New South Wales - Australia- her father James Dochard came from Comrie Perthshire Scotland and her mother was Catherine McCoy she was born at Kilcolem, Limerick Ireland on 9th December 1833 - Her Parents were John and Mary McCoy (nee Enright)

Smith Ancestors

My grandfather JAMES SMITH was born at Emerald Hill which is now known as South Melbourne - Australia (His grand daughter won 62 grand slam tennis titles.) His parents were JAMES AND KATE SMITH (nee) MYERS.

His father JAMES WILLIAM (or WILLIAM JAMES) SMITH was from either Watton or Waltham Hertfordshire England- He married CHARLOTTE SMITH (maiden name) on 16th May 1823. JAMES SMITH my great grand father was born thirteen years later on 16th October in 1836. So I guess he would have been one of the younger siblings.(I would love to know where the rest of the family if any - ended up.)

You can imagine what it has been like trying to track down the name SMITH - I have even sent letters to the editor of the local newspapers in England without success. You have no idea the number of JAMES SMITHS (no second name) that came to Australia from the 1850's onwards. Hoping there is someone out there that is related as we are a little short of relatives on the Smith line.
