HOLSAPPLE Family

Margaret HOLSAPPLE was my gggrandmother. Her parents were George HOLSAPPLE and Phoebe HUBBARD. George's parents were Jacob and Catherine HOLSAPPLE. I'm working on dates.

Josiah SNODGRASS

Josiah SNODGRASS married Margaret HOLSAPPLE in Indiana. The family then moved to Illinois. The 1895 Kansas Census has Josiah Snodgrass in Towanda, Butler County, Kansas, 82 years old, born in Virginia. I don't know if they moved again, or boundary lines changed. According to the census, Margaret never learned how to read. Sad.

McGinty's in Roscommon...

The Roscommon connection turned up nothing. I could not find any connection with the Guinty's, or McGinty's in Roscommon. Mary may have been from there though. There were a lot of Hanleys from there, actually their ancestral home. The McGintys are from County Cork, and Donegal. Some Irish from Cork traveled to Donegal to look for work, so my search will shift from Roscommon to Cork and Donegal. Any suggestions on free sites with info?

TJ Sanders-findagrave

I just took over maintaining my grandfather's grave on find a grave. It's good to have family to manage those. I would recommend going on that site and looking after your ancestors memorials (good for geneology research too.). I remember when I was young and my mother did geneology research. She used to take us to cemetaries on family vacations. Strange at the time, now I get it!

Hanley's in LaSalle, Illinois

In my search for Mary Hanley's family, I went to the Ballykilcline Website. I found James Hanley, one of four brothers, b. 1783. He had a son, James, b abt 1818 (Mary was born abt 1815, could this be her brother?). He married and immigrated to America in 1847. They landed in Vermont, and settled in LaSalle, Illinois (the same route as my family). This is their family:
The children of James and Susan:

John b. Feb. 1842
Elizabeth b. died as a child, buried in Ireland
Peter b. Dec. 1844
James b. Feb. 1849
Child not named died
Anna b. Dec. 9,1851
Thomas b. Jan. 1854
Bridget b. Feb. 1858
Dennis b. 1861
Edward b. Mar. 1862
My family also contained the names Anna, Dennis, and Bridget. Family names? Could be my family, or a total coincidence.
