A New Year and a New Determination

On this first day of 2012, I am determined to find my past. Can't afford ancestry.com, and it was of little help, so i will try all the free sites. Wish me luck.
My father is James Bernard Benson jr., my grandfather was sr. His father, my great grandfather was Joseph Benson. He had another son, Adrian Joseph was supposed to have come from Sweden as Bengston,(sp?) and Americanized the name to Benson. I believe he was married to Fairy? Not sure on this, but has wife did remarry and had two more sons, Frederick, and Eugene, (Gene) Thomas. They were from the Chicago area, possibly had a trucking company there. Migrated into northern Indiana/southern Michigan. Any information at all would be appreciated as I don't have a clue what I am doing. My father is on his 70's and has always wanted to visit his grandfathers grave, which he thinks may be in Chesterton, IN. Joseph had a sister Helen, not sure if her name was shortened to Benson also, or if she married.
