Also, it appears that Wikipedia have a new aspect to their website in which anyone can contribute towards by writing about their ancestors. The link is below. Before you can create a page about your ancestor, it is advised that you goto the SEARCH box, left-hand margin, and type in the surname you are researching just in case someone has already written about your ancestor and/or that particular person.

Make sure you read all their information very carefully. But it looks like you can even start with what sketchy information you have, and then add more as you know more.
