edmondsallan _ Hello - When " Bell and his Brothers " shifted north , his wife remained in Hamilton and died there in 1962 ( I tried to find the reason . nothing showed up ). " Bell " himself once again became a driving force in many things in that area . He was one of the original instigators in getting this land ( still named Auckland ) to be named " Northland ". He established a chamber of commerce
** > ( Now I can see what Samuel was after ! Cunning & profitable to him . No wonder he was studying " Allen Bell " He was going to try and use the drive & power that " Bell " had & was charging forward at a hell of a pace to form some sort of partnership / company ." Samuel - you sure were an asute far ahead thinker in Business ". Moving on
" Bell " used the chamber of commerce and his own skills to get the road works done ( North // South // around the east coast to Whangarei and eventually got the transfer of essentual services shifted from " Mongonui " to " Kaitaia " . In 1918 He became the editor of the newspaper " Northern Age " Owning a large share holding in the Newspaper , he started to use it to get Government Asssistance for many schemes . One of the Biggest was the draining of the thousands of acres of that huge swamp on the western ,// northern // east sides of Kaitaia . This had a huge effect on Kaitaia's agriculture and the dividing of land into sections for a township . He also had become , once again ,become a Land agent in Kaitaia.
What a game of chess !! What a move he had planned all those years ago . The biggest beneficiaries Of Course were " Allen Bell " and his two brothers " Leonard & Walter " Next he pulled out of the newspaper he was in and set up a new one which he completely owned -
" The Northlander " His plan was to stir up the people in his region and get them to vote for him . With control of the media and the persuave power it had , He stood as an independent in 1922 for the Bay of Islands Electorate and won . In the next elexction in 1925 he also was re-elected .He lost at the next election in 1928 . " Allen Bell's " health was now starting to fail. " Samuel " describes him as follows : " A very Tall handsome Man , with a considerable prescence . A powerful orator . Strong willed . a powerful business man in the area . ( ** > " say readers-- I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when these two over sized males shook hands & started to talk turkey !!! what a clash of the Giants !! in their respected fields .no wonder " Sammie's notes , on the studies and meeting of the two of them - were unfinished - Both of them had met their
" match " !!!!!!
" Allen Bell " died on the on the 15th Oct'1936 . He was cremated . His dying wish was carried out . His ashes from his cremation were scattered from an aircraft , just North of ' Cape Reinga ' and Nor' East of Spirits Bay. What away to bow out ! His spirit will live for ever in that region among many other great spirits . His Mana will live for ever among his descendants . Till we meet again - Regards - edmondsallan
