This photo is one of my favourites found in a box of old photos left by my Nanna, Ethel HAY (previously WACEY, nee BURNS) Girls are Ruth(b1913,d2003) Joyce(My Mum)(b1917,d2012) Jean (b1918,d1965) Pauline (b1922) Sheila(b1924)
A great photo to have. It's great that it is dated and I presume that the names were written on the back, it's great to be able to identify the young girls in this photo as so often there is just the photo and nothing to say who or when.
My Nanna wrote on the front of this photo. I personally knew all the "girls" in the photo...they were (and are) my aunts, Joyce was my Mum and she was full of stories about her childhood in Wahroonga NSW. When we were kids we stayed at Nanna's place where Mum grew up. The house is still there, in Ingram Road (no. 28). Thank you all for your kind comments!
Rosie, the photo is a classic and must be very precious for you and your family. My mother was also one of five girls and luckily we have portraits when the girls turned 21, but no decent photos when they were younger. Thanks for sharing. Gail Costigan White. Qld
