Are you in Australia? the reason I ask is because I have seen a couple of Upham trees here. George Nix Upham and William both came to Australia and Settled in Victoria. I believe Ann Nix had a sister Elizabeth who married a man named PLAYER and I have seen the Player tree as well and I'm pretty sure Elizabeth's mother's name was Maria or Mary BUSTARD. I'll be back in my office in an hour and shall look it up for you. Jan

Greetings, I was born in Ararat Victoria, Australia, my grandmother was Eleanor Frances Blake nee Upham (1895-1967) her father was William Upham and her mother was Maria Neill Barr (1868-1927). George Nix Upham arrived in Australia on the ship "Kent". William Uphm's father was William Upham (1833-1911)he married Bridget Coyne/Coin (1823-1910). William and Bridget bought land, "Viewfield", at Jackson Creek, Shire of Ararat. I have details of their family if you require them. Best wishes, Robert Davis

Okay, yes I know that tree. First thing I wanted to tell you, and I've been meaning to contact the Upham family for years but just filed it away and forgot it till just now. I have in my possession a newspaper article from 1892. Lloyds of London put out a weekly newspaper and in it they had a list of British people looking for relatives in the colonies. Then the list would be re-printed in an Australian newspaper. I have such a list and I would like to send it to you. It is from Mary Ann who claims to be a sister of George and William. She is looking for them. Claims not to have heard from them since 1861.She mentions a couple of places where she had last heard from them. I know none of the Upham's have Mary Ann as one of the children of Francis and Ann. So this is worth taking a look at.email me janilye@yahoo.com.au and I will send you the article and we can go from there. Jan
