Any Info on Silversmiths IN London with the Name William Bruce Late 1700 S Early 1800 S Found a William Bruce Silversmith Whose Will Puts Him at...
I am descendant of William Bruce b 1793 London who married Rebecca Bradshaw b Cerkenwall London. Both William and his son William Frederick were Masters of Workhouses in London (Hackney & Gravesend) and migrated to Australia. William Frederick first in 1852 with wife Emily Anne (Lord) and later on his parents.
I have hit a stumbling block with the Bruces. I know William's (Snr) father (another William Bruce) was a silversmith as per his son's death cert. and found a will of a William Bruce Silversmith of Ebury St Chelsea, Middlesex dated 1813 which is hard to read and doesn't give a lot of details but could be a match. Have contacted the Guildhall Library and the London Goldsmiths Co to see if there were many William Bruce, silversmiths in London at about the time of his son's birth in 1793 but so far only received info from Guildhall Lib and nothing to tie definitely to my ancestor. Any descendant from the Bruces at Maldon/Leongatha that may have info going further back?????
I have lots of info on the Bruce's in Maldon Victoria, including shipping records, BDM's but trying to trace further back
