On the Wales --- English border is a township with 2 names . The Welsh Side is called - Monmouthshire + the English Side is called Monmouth . My ancestors who originally came from northern Germany , to Denmark , to Norway to northern Ireland to place on the east coast Called Bangor Where their Viking ship was wrecked in a heavy storm . After many years they built another boat , sailed across the Irish sea via Isle of man = LANDED ON THE EAST COAST OF WALES - which they also called Bangor. They then fought their way across wales over a period of time + settled in the Welsh village of Monmouthshire. A few generations later a family of ARNAULTS crossed over the Border -( which runs down the centre of the Main street) to work in England . While their they had ( 4 ) children . And while they were there they were there were baptised in an English church With their surname being spelt the English way - ARNOLD . they Have ben , down the generations to this day , known by the English version of the sur name
