Hi just answering your question. James and Ellen did not come to NZ, their son John William B. 1859 came out. Still trying to find the name of the ship he came on, about 1871. He came with a brother. His two aunties Elizabeth and Mary came out a few years before with their families. One lot settled in Hamilton and are the family 'Winter'. My grandfather Ngatotorewa Haki or Jack as he was known married Heeni Pene of Orawhero. Hope this clears some things up.
