Gladys Baxter (husbands grandmother) was born in 1904 in Oldham Union Workhouse. She was born to a single mum Elizabeth Baxter. She says she she is 33. (Workhouse records) So that would make her born in 1871. Despite extensive searching 1911 census I can't find a match. I have found Gladys on school records 1914 this indicates father or guardian is James and is living at 86 Franklin Street. Elizabeth left with Gladys a month or so after her birth.. It is Elizabeth we are trying to locate, (possible Scottish connection. for your email. Both Gladys and Elizabeth have Baxter as surname. On the records she is unmarried. I cannot find a marriage possibility as Gladys remains a Baxter until marrying William H Bennett. I do wonder if a relative called James brought her up in Oldham.
