Bolland of Chester Born 1820

William Bolland
Appointed by Bishop Selwynas the first vicar of St Mary’s,
William and his wife Jane arrived in New Plymouth in December 1843.
His daughter, Mary Dora, died in 1846 aged two months.
William Bolland, aged 27, died of typhuscaught from a visiting St John’s Theological
College student. In his three years’ work he saw St Mary’s built in stone, a chapel built at
Te Henui, and a Sunday School opened. He also built a hostelry and hospital for the Māori.
After his death Jane and their son Ernest returned to England.

This throws up one issue, Jennet is shown has William's mother but his christening shows her as Sarah. I cannot find a marriage for William and Sarah or William and Jennet.

Thank you. Your information does not provide a link that I was hoping for between Rev William Bolland senior and my Great Great Grandfather Richard Bolland of Chester who married Ann Ball in 1833 and begat my Great Grandfather Alfred Robert Bolland in September 1844. Alfred migrated to New Zealand in the 1870s ,married Margaret Vaughan and had seven sons.
Rev William Bolland junior who was a very early migrant was quite prominent for the short time he lived in the struggling New Plymouth settlement. There is no record of his having a daughter who died here in 1845.

Yes he was my g/grandfather who came to NZ as an employee of Brogdens to build railways. While in Wellington he stayed at a boarding house and met his future wife Jennie and her grandmother Jane Vaughan. Alfred left Wellington to work further up the North Island and a few months later had a visit from a pregnant Jennie and the grandmother. A marriage takes place and a son is born followed by a second son 17 months later in October 1874. The family including the grandmother then left for England where they remained for almost 12 years and had a further 4 sons before returning to NZ in 1887 to have a seventh son , my grandfather, Frank Bolland .
Jennie outlives my g/grandfather who dies in 1899 and she at 47 marries again and lives until 1936.
