Braddock Family of Chesterfield South Carolina

I'm researching the four branches of my family. Each one, of course, comes with its own set of problems. My BRADDOCK line begins with Carl Braddock (1889-1963), son of Joseph Daniel Braddock (1874-1940),son of William Braddock (1827-1906), son of John Braddock, Sr. (1799-1850), son of Ralph (Raff)Braddock (1764). All lived in and around Chesterfield County, South Carolina. Piece of cake, right? Then I get to Ralph's father, Edward, born about 1738. Can't find out a thing about him because I'm inundated by information on Major General Edward Braddock and his son, General Edward Braddock. Sincerely doubt they are one in the same.
