Brophy S of Shanbo Borris IN Ossory Laois Ireland
My great grandfather was Edward Brophy from Shanbo, Borris in Ossory, Laois, Ireland. He worked with the GSWR He was born in 1832 and died in 1893. He had ten children, some of whom also worked with GSWR - Patrick was in Baltinglass at one stage and had four children. Edward (Ned) had daughters Honora, Ellen, Anna, Mary, and Margaret. As well as Patrick he had Thomas, Kyran, Joseph and Michael.
Hello, I came across this post when I was doing a google search this morning. I know that your post is seven years old and you may not be involved in research any more. My husband, Gerard Murphy's 2nd great grandfather was Edward (Ned) Brophy. He was married to Mary Whelan/Whalen/Phelan. Their daughter, Anne Brophy is Gerry's great grandmother. Gerry had his DNA tested with Ancestry DNA and I've uploaded to Gedmatch. Thank you for posting the original post.
