Dear BJerrison, Hi there. In family tree at GenesReunited I have:-

RITCHIE 1700s Scotland
SIM 1740-1860 Pitsligo & Rosehearty, Aberdeen, Scotland

SIMS 1900s-present Glen Innes, Armidale, Sydney and Inverell, New South Wales, Australia.

Join up as a free member of RootsChat - FREE genealogical research, then post a new topic - Somerset Census and Lookup Requests in the England board. You should be able to find your relative Mary Hill (Cable) on the 1841 Census with her parents, and siblings, giving you abode of address and occupation of father. Census year data available 1841 through to 1901.

To go beyond Census year of 1841 you will need to find a website for parish records in Somerset or see if someone can do a lookup at rootschat for you. Alternatively, there should be good resources for Somerset here on familytreecircles (see links or search 'Somerset') and also at rootschat.

Kind regards,
Alison

Hi Allycat
Thanks for your quick response. Quite new at this ancestry thing, but have made a few interesting finds already, One of my ancestors emigrated to Tasmania, Australia. I will take your advise and go to roots chat. I have already built up about 200 names registered on ancestry.com and just started at Genes reunited. I will keep you posted. thanks again

Dear Betty, Hi there. If you add in your profile all the surnames you are researching in bulk registration format, written in uppercase and separated by commas, they will become clickable links.

I can then create surname wiki pages for each of your surnames. To show one as an example just look at the newest surname wikis on the homepage of familytreecircles to see what I mean.

I have also written journals on genealogy research in all the States of Australia with all the relevant (mostly free) searchable links. Just click on my profile, then Country: Australia.

I have over 8,000 names in my gedcom file.

Cheerio,
Alison.
