Going by Edward's age at death he was born circa 1866, but I'm unable to locate a birth for Edward with parents named David CAIRNS and Janet THOMPSON.

There was a birth recorded for Edward CAIRNS in the Parish of Wannaene in 1866 to parents Alexander CAIRNS and Janet DAGLEISH, but I have not located a death for Edward with these parents.

If anyone has the 1893 marriage certificate for Edward and Elizabeth they may be able to confirm Edward's parents.
