Cairns Family of Victoria Australia
I am currently researching the Cairns family who settled in Boneo on the Mornington Peninsula (Victoria, Australia) in the mid 1850's. I am a descendant of David Cairns (snr).
I have used Peter Wilson and Ray Cairns' book; "The Cairns Family of Boneo" as a platform and have begun formalising and expanding the family tree by confirming births, deaths and marriages for many of the siblings. I have collected the most information on David Cairns' line but have collected other information on Robert and Alexander's lines as I have moved along including various newspaper articles, burial locations and photos.
I also have been working on the Cairns origin from Menstrie (Logie Parish), Scotland. It appears that Cairns' may have occupied several of the surrounding parishes in central Scotland and travelled to Australia about the same time (1850's), although settled in Melbourne and to the west of Port Phillip Bay rather than on the Mornington Peninsula.
I would be grateful to hear from anybody regarding any snippets of information, large or small, and would be more than willing to share information.
Thanks
