Clarkson 1806

My grandfather, William Lee Clarkson born in the North West Fork of Delaware, died in Harrington Delaware - his father was James Robert Clarkson born 1848 in the North West Fork of Delaware, died in Harrington Delaware - his father was Bayard Clarkson (probably Wm. Bayard Clarkson) born 1806 - birth state?? He claimed Delaware, but highly unlikely - I believe he was born in New York or Maryland - he had family Robert Clarkson in the Fork with him. They both had sons Robert's son was named James Bayard Clarkson (older than Bayard's son) who was named (as stated above) James Robert Clarkson - there was also a Wm H. Clarkson and his wife who came to the same area, North West Fork, with his family - he worked and patented a piece of equipment at the Newton Company. They were of the Scottish and English Clarkson's - my grandfather told me when I was a very little girl that his family was from Scotland - he did claim he was part English, but primarily his family was from Scotland. We date back to the Viking era and I have been told by the head genealogist of Delaware that we indeed were from the Vikings - I had a DNA done with my brother as donor - it did show that we did date back to that era. Finding Bayard's father has proven a roadblock for me. Wm H. Clarkson and his family came from New York, just over the New Jersey border. He and his wife moved back to NY and both died there. I believe one of his girls married a Sussex Cty man and died in Sussex Cty Delaware (the Fork at one time was Maryland and after the Mason Dixon went through and straightened out the western portion of Delaware it became Delaware as did a lot of eastern shore Maryland). The DNA did not get any 37 marker hits - it only got 12 marker hits. I have seen no DNA's done by the NY clan - the southern clan did not match my Clarkson's. Was Bayard an only child? Was his name Wm. Bayard? If his family was from Dela. why did he have family member ties to NY. Bayard and Robert were apparently close to have named their sons middle names for each other. Was Bayard's first name Wm. - the Clarksons named their first sons for the grandfather - Bayard named his only son James - James named my grandfather Wm. -
