This Journal is to assist One of our members ( Nagoc1977 )5/5/2011 who asked the Query :" Looking for info on John Cogan before 1796 " I would bring TO the enquiring member's attention , that their appears to be a huge mix up in the documented records in Pennsylvania . In fact I found marriages with wrong dates , names spelt wrong from what they should be for certain families . Marriage dates altered as well as one or two children. The records I put before you I cannot give it a clearance at all as proven . Who ever entered some of the documentation should be hung by the neck until dead , I will put before you what I found ,as close to being correct as i could find . If you have been trying to research some of the pennsylevania Records , no wonder you asked for assistance. Ok , here goes - not proven !!!

In Missouri over ( 400 + ) Cogans / In Ihio over ( 600 + ) in Pennsylvania - over ( 400 + )
When I went deeper into the ancestry the following came up

Milo de Cogan -b- 1145 - Glamorgan -Wales -m- a Christine Painal

John de Cogan -d- 1275 - Wales

John de Cogan -d - 1302 -Wales

I say this with tongue in cheek - they may have come from France to Wales then onto America . WE are inclined to forget that Philadelphia was one of the big areas for new imigrants coming into America. Pennsylvania is close to that state . I could not get this ancestry to come together . Be careful , their is a lot of fish hooks in Pennysylvania

Till we meet again _ Regards -edmondsallan
