Cotton of Nelson New Zealand

I am building my family tree on the Cotton family who immigrated to New Zealand in 1856 on the Emma Colvin. James Henry Cotton and Mary Anne Nye of London with 3 children, Charles, Henry, Edward. James is listed on the passenger list of the Emma Colvin but Mary Anne and children are not. Perhaps they came out later. They had 7 other children in Nelson/ James parents were Henry and Elizabeth (Brown) married in 1829 at St Mary Parish Lambeth London.

Related Surnames:

Hi Mazie,

You can obtain any information from my births/deaths/marriages that you need.

The births recorded for the wife of Mr James Cotton are those of James Cotton Jnr and his wife, Maria (nee Jarrett).

My cousin is Lindel Buckley - she has posted in the last link "Cotton of Nelson".
If you like, I can email you her contact email address as she will also have information on our Cotton family.

In regards to the Cemetery Records - they are listed under the Nelson City Council Website. The databases are all accessible online. I have managed to ascertain where each Cotton belongs through the cemetery database & newspaper articles, which I have obtained through the Papers Past website.

If there is anything you need, just email me :)

Kind regards,

Amber
