If you look on familysearch.org you will find on 1871 census
George Christopher Curry 23
Mary Amanada 21
Anna Elmira 3
James MacLean 1
You will find on this site indexed records for Nova Scotia...
births. 1702-1896, 1861 census. marriages 1711-1909
Best wishes in your research.
A search at www.NovaScotiaGenealogy.com finds 2 James McLean births and a marriage that may or may not be your family.
You may also have some luck at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick site - check the Vital Stats at http://archives.gnb.ca/APPS/GovRecs/VISSE/Default.aspx?culture=en-CA
and the Daniel Johnson newspaper archives.
Best of luck in your search.
Thanks so much! I have been using the PEI Provincial Archives for my Mom's family, but hadn't stumbled across the other provinces yet.
I will check the familysearch.org dite too - I haven't had a lot of success with the 1871 census to date. It would be nice if they were all as well done as the 1881 version!
Thanks again!
Hello,
I am James Mclean Currie's (Maclean Curry) great granddaughter. I guess that would make us second cousins!
I have a photo of him sitting in his racing sulky with one of his trotting horses outside the farmhouse in Nova Scotia.
Regards
Mary D.
Mary,
I sent you a private message, thanks so much for your response. I forgot to ask which of James I children are you descended from?
Regards,
Pam
