CUSACK in Fiji

Journal by researcher62

Hello All.... my first post.
I have been researching my families ancestry for the last 18 months and have found it all very fascinating.

I will start by requesting information on a dead-end I have struck. My father's great-grandfather is Stephen James Cusack. Born Dublin, Ireland in the 1830's.
He emigrated to Victoria, Australia in about 1852 - being struck with gold fever.
He married Mary Ann Wilson Owen in 1856 in Ballarat, Victoria.
He chased the gold to New Zealand in the 1860's, then ran several hotels all over NZ... possibly returning to Sydney, Australia in between.
In 1870 he was in Samoa and Fiji, running a newspaper, running for elections, being friends with Robert Louis Stevenson..... possibly re-marrying.
He had 4 children - there is some confusion as to whether they all had the same mother - there was a James who may have stayed in NZ. A Stephen who died young. Charles Bernard, Stephen William and Sidney Francis....
They ended in Bunbury in Western Australia - running a newspaper.

The Fiji records are very light on and extremely confusing and contradictory.
I have come across no one else researching this family and would be glad of any help.
Thanks
