Hi CC,
I've just started researching my own family tree and googled my Nan, Dorothy Nelson Meek (née Chapman) and found your question. She was actually born in 1906 although the family had always thought it to be 1909. Our hunch is that her husband was actually younger than her and it was easier to change it than be labelled for marrying a younger man.

Raymond Cusack is my aunt's ex-husband, who is also the daughter of Dorothy Nelson Meek.

I hope is information helps .... you may already have it now given the question was posted nearly 18months ago.
