Daly Family IN India
My grandfather had an older sister (my great Aunt) who married a man who was a doctor and served most of his life in India as a military doctor. His father was also a military doctor, and the family appeared to live in India for a few generations. The mother in law of my great Aunt was named Annie Cecilia nee Daly, I know that her father was Francis Dermot Daly and her mother was Cecilia. I have been told that the father of Francis Dermot Daly was Richard Daly, he was a bank manager in England. I have no idea of the birth date of Francis Dermot Daly, the date he married Cecilia, her maiden name, the name of the motehr of Francis Dermot Daly, when and where his father Richard was born and died, and very little information about any of them in those generations, and dont know where to look, as nothing found in the England BMD, and not sure where to look next, can anybody help me with records from India in the 1800s please
My materbal grandmother's name was Marie Terese/Teresa O'daly.
All I know is her father worked in Rajasthan for a while, and then they moved to Calcutta, where she worked as an air hostess for 'Bharat Airways' in those days and later as a telephone operator for the police.
She married my grandfather Desmond Lawrence whose family then owned the 'Lawrence Undertakers' business in Calcutta. the business later died out as nobody took care of it properly.
I got to know her a lot later in life and she was mentally ill, I am very curious about her side of the family.
Please let me know if you have any other information.
I will ask my cousins more about her sisters and parents, I am not very close to them, and I need to find out.
My family is from Daniel Daly in Madras who had a son, Francis Patrick Daly
I looked back at my records and saw a Francis Dermott Daly (not related). Further search shows several children including Annie Cecilia who married Herbert Boyd. Also, a Theresa but I don't have a birth date for either.

There are two named Francis Dermot Daly – one of them was the son of Francis Daly and Elinor nee Foster. He served in the Army and was a Lt Col. He married firstly to Mary McIntosh, daughter of Capt Hugh McIntosh, then later married to Sarah Bidgood, daughter of Henry Fisher Bidgood. He died in 1857. Lt Col Francis Dermot Daly served in the Peninsula Wars with the 4th Light Dragoons between 1842 and 1846. His children were Francis Hugh Daly and General Sir Henry Dermot Daly born 25th October 1823 died 21st July 1895, and that Henry Dermot Daly –
General Sir Henry Dermot Daly was born on 25 October 1823.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col.Francis Dermot Daly and Mary McIntosh.2He married, firstly, Susan Elizabeth EllenKirkpatrick, daughter of EdwardKirkpatrick, on 21 October 1852.1 He married, secondly, Charlotte Claudine GeorginaCoape, daughter of James Coape, in 1882.2He died on 21 July 1895 at age 71.2

My connection, is through marriage,from my great aunt, the older sister of my grandfather, she was Ada Minnie Vincent, born 16th March 1873 at St Giles, Barnet, London, died Thanet Kent 12th December 1962, married 12th November 1908 at the Registry Office Wandsworth London to John Errol Moritz Boyd (born 25th May 1881 Bombay India, baptised at the church of St Stephen the Martyr, Marylebone, 2nd July 1881 by the Rev M Nelson. and also registered at Marylebone London, died Thanet Kent June qtr 1953, son of Surgeon LtCol Herbert Boyd (1847-1922 and Annie Cecilia Daly (4th Jun 1857-1915), (her birth was registered as Cecilia Ann Daly) daughter of Francis Dermot Daly (a bank manager) – (and nephew of LtCol Francis Dermot Daly of the 4th Light Dragoons) Herbert and Annie Cecilia had married at Umbala Bengal India on 14th August 1879)
