David Pell Brooklyn NY 1790 1854 Approximately He is My 3rd Great Grandfather

I know he comes from the Pell family in Pelham, Eastchester county and NYC, NY. However, I cannot not find out who his father is!! I have theories but no concrete proof. It appears David was a Catherine St ferry boat Captain in Brooklyn between the 1820's & 1840's
