Descendants and Ancestors of Garrard from Norfolk England
I have a comprehensive Family tree of the Garrards from NORFOLK back to 1761. I am interested in finding any descendants who immigrated to America, Canada and Australia. Any information on ancestors of Daniel and Elcy Garrard c1761
Hello richardgarrad - Garrads go back to 1552 in suffolk . england
Elcey goes back to at least 1616 in linconshire . eng . The name has changed at least 5 times - Elcey /Elsey / Elcy / Elsay / Elsye. Go to --- > familysearch.org < Use all their different sites IGI - pedigree etc for both names . You will need to sift thro' and match up the families . Australia has over 50 entries . that can be researched .
Canada - over 200 to be researched . America ??? the name might have changed to Garrett - If you can find the name change link .another of over 200 entries . I reckon who could have at least 6 months work at a work rate of 24 / 7 When you have got it sorted would you like to come back to this website with your ancestry Journal . we are looking forward to reading it . all the best - Regards -edmondsallan
I can go back to 1066 and also the doomsday book to establish the Garrards, that's not a problem, but the problem is establishing a connection between my family tree and the garrard names and links found. There is a tentative link between the garrards of Norfolk and Suffolk with the garrard seat in Yorkshire going back to the 13th century. THanks for your reply, I will be happy to come back and up-date the Journal when more is found.
Welcome to Family Tree Circles Richard.
Don't tell me - your GARRARD clan were gold diggers and they came out to Australia to fill their pockets with nuggets ... well I could be wrong. But I did notice the GARRARD name entered the Victorian records in 1853 with marriages, followed by births on the gold fields in central Victoria.
If you can pass on any further details about your GARRARD lines in Australia I would be happy to do a bit of digging for you. You never know - I may strike gold!
Thank you, When I have names and departure dates i'll be back in touch
Hello Tonkin --- I like your sense of humour -Regards - edmondsallan
Sounds like team work Richard.
When you have the names and departure dates we can check the records here (in Australia) for their landing dates, and then follow up with marriages, births and deaths.
