Charles Stent arriving in New Zealand on the 'Lord William Bentinck" in May 1941 aged 21.
His future wife Sarah Peck arrived in New Zealand on the 'Catherine Stewart Forbes" the following month aged 8 years old.

They were married in 1849 and had 8 children:
Charles Stent 1849-1931, married Emma Jackson-Lynds (daughter of the whaler James Hayter Jackson) - they had 11 children

Isobella Stent 1851-1936, married Sidney Hirst, (son of Sydney Hirst, the man who built the Christ Church church at Taita) - they had 11 children

James Stent 1853-1938, married Sarah Whitehead they had 8 children

Henry Stent 1855-1928, married Eveline Mills, 1 child known at this time

Frances (Fanny) Stent 1857-1938, married Samuel Peck (son of Daniel Peck & Elizabeth Gaskin, pioneer settlers of Taita) - they had 13 children

Thomas Stent 1859-1861, died 16 months old

Robert William Stent 1861-1947, married Elizabeth Whitehead (who may have been a sister of Sarah Whitehead who married his brother James) they had 9 children

Harriett Jane Stent 1868-1916, (nothing is known of Harriett, husband or children?) she died aged 48 in Ohingati, Manawatu
