Dear 'Loupie', I am one of George (senior - born Stringston, Somerset) and George's (junior - born Tasmania) great grandchildren,. My great-grandmother is Harriet Caroline James (nee Govett, daughter of George Govett and Harriet (nee Pippin). Great Grandma James married Evan James and their daughter, Olive is my grandmother who died in 1922. Olive's daughter is my mother Joyce who has just turned 97 years old! My branch is often referred to as the Kyneton Victoria branch, as that is where George Senior and Mary (nee Bryant) settled on the Piper's Run property (renamed Pastoria). I am researching the Govett and James family history too. With warm regards, Deborah

Hi Deborah and Loupie
I came across your postings yesterday, when doing some research on the Govett family in Queensland. My connection to the family is through Minnie Mary Mahoney, my great grandmother and wife of William Boyes Govett.
I am not connected by "blood", as I am descended from Catherine Dearing, second daughter of Minnie Mary Mahoney and her first husband, James Dearing, in Blackall. I grew up knowing Uncle George Govett, who I now realise is a half-brother to my grandmother Catherine Ware (nee Dearing). Sorry if that is all getting confusing - it is a complex, but interesting story! Kind regards, Kay

Hello,my name is Averre Mackay. My grandmother was Joan Averre Mackay ( maiden name Govett). I am trying to trace our family tree and understand we are related to George Govett and William Romain Govett somehow. I am interested in getting in contact with filling details of my family tree as my grandmother sadly was part way through when she passed away. My father is one of 9 children, the family relocated from Ballarat when my father was young and ended up residing in Brighton Le Sands, Sydney. I also understand that my grandmother was the first cousin of Dame Elizabeth Murdoch. If you could provide some assistance I would be very grateful.
Thanks so much
Averre Mackay.

Hello, Researching Minnie (Mary) Mahoney who married William Boyes Govett later in life. Their marriage was in 1923 and in the same year their older children were Registered in Qld. Their children were George 1885, Isabella (Dixon) 1886, Florence or Folssie (Tomkins) 1889, Amy Ruby (Corkill) 1891, and William John 1893 (decsd 1898). Minnnie's first marriage was to James Dearing and I am researching their daughter Mary Jane (or Jean) Parkinson (nee Dearing)1882.
The SLQ State Library Qld has the "Govett Family Papers 1899-1972"
The collection consists mainly of letters, documents, cuttings and two copies of the Kyneton Guardian, relating to the Govett family history. Included are copies of a letter written in 1972 by Mrs Betty Esmena Malaher to Clement Govett, and one written in 1904 by John Govett, both of which contain biographical information on members of the Govett family. There is also an original diary for May-June 1908, kept by William B Govett during a motor trip between Brisbane and Melbourne.
