I believe these brothers came in from possibly sc in about 1733 or thereabouts. I know some mercers came in about that time and they were from virginia..their name was joseph mercer who had a son who went ky and then the family settled in ky and soutehrn indiana. current reletiave is cuba austin mercer (deceased at least l0 years ago) and thomas lloyd mercer who is in late fifties or early 60s and lives in evansville, indiana. thomas lloyd mercer traced the family history to the civil war where one of the family memebers was a commanding officer who shot a lady because she did not allow him to get food for his troops. i have no information on the other mercers except that the mercer name at some point was spelled mercier and some mercer's sent their children to be educated in france during war in the l5th?cehtury there is a mercer coat of arms which has a lady with long brown hair and a gold crown. have been told mercers were rich merchants who sold mataerials to royalty.any idea as to origin or name? english?? french?
