hi hmarieskind, haven't yet found the ship Margaret arrived on but adding some names and dates here so other readers may be able to help you. The more info the better people can recognise them
Johan Georg 'George' Ott (1832-1909) was born near Stuttgart, Germany. They arrived on the Maori on 16 April 1857 in Dunedin from London. George arrived in Invercargill in 1859 (he probably did the 4 day walk from Dunedin as he had done a few times in the past with George Lumsden) and finally settled there in 1862 when he married Margaret Murray (1827-1907). He occupied a seat on the first Town Board of Invercargill
George & Margaret are both buried in Eastern cemetery, Invercargill with 5 other members of the Ott family
Thank you for a thoughtful and helpful response. George and Margaret were the patents of my grandfather, William Alexander Ott. May I ask who you are, please? Are you part of the Ott family?
