edmondsallan- Hi - I read your question. > Are you sure the name is spelt right . I might be jumping off the deep end here But have a look at this - It may be what you are looking for . " Te Tamaikora " with an ( R ) not an ( H ) 2nd letter from the end of name . If I am correct the following may assist you . Starting from the original canoe " Mataatua " Landing at the Mouth of the Whakatane River .
Captain - " Toroa "
Tohunga - !/2 brother to captain ? --
Among the crew -Younger brother oF Captain - " Puhi "
Sister " Muriwai "
Son " Ruaihona "
Daughter " Wairaka "
>> They inter - married with the old trlbe - that was already there - ' " Te Hapu "
Over several Generations a new tribe was born " Tuhoe- Potiki "
They started & went in Land up towards the Head waters of the Whakatane River / Decendants( " Wairaka's Son -"Tamatea " -He was also Grandson of the captain of the Canoe " Mataatua " " Toroa " who Married - " Paewhiti "
" Tamatea-ki- te -Huathi -m - Paewhiti" They had Three ( 3 ) sons
" Te-Whenanui-i-" = " Tamaikora " - " Pukenui " Is this Person you are looking for ? Second son . Time frame - approximately - early 1800's to 1900's These three were also leaders of the
" Tuhoe " tribe and fought the europeans > I hope this assists you . What I have put here is about 95 % accurate . You certainly have a difficult whakapapa too trace . Good luck - Regards -Edmondsallan

In helping a Maori friend to prepare a Waitangi Tribunal claim, I did a fair bit of research on Tamaikoha. It is contained within that claim, and if you give me your email address, I'll send a copy of it to you.
I regard Tamaikoha as a Maori equivalent to the Scottish William Wallace.

Perhaps I should have given my email address for you to contact me?

Hi Lynaire,

Im currently researching my whakapapa as well and came across your post. My great grandmother is Keita Collier, who is the daughter of Timi Koria (Jim Collier) and Temate Huirua Tamaikoha. Temate Huirua Tamaikoha is the daughter of Eru Tamaikoha Te Ariari and Ngatua.

In regards to the Collier side, the whakapapa I have shows:
William Collier married Po Koherangi Kingi they had 1 son
William (Bill) Collier who married Hiria Te Kani AKA Hiria Heahea who had 2 children
Jim Collier who married Te Matehuirua Tamaikoha and
Te Koherangi Collier who married Stanley Johnston

Jim and Te Matehuirua had 2 children Nikau Collier and Keita Collier
Te Koherangi had 3 children Roy McKenzie Johnston, Gordon Johnston and Eliazbeth Tiopira (through 2nd union).

Im still researching and learning alot so I hope this helps. Im always interested in adding to this whakapapa so if you have anything to share please email me whanau on mara.vao@hotmail.com :) Kia Ora whanau
