edmondsallan - Good morning to all - I suspose many of you , who just may be following or have joined in this ancestry exercise , have already, had a search in the LDS - family search website for the name 'Leyson ' and the spanish comnnection . What did you find ?
( ** > wait 10 min , while I have ago ) I'm back . Their is many , many ' Leyson's " in the Philippines . none seem to be connecting . What have we got in info ? (> working file notes ) " Carcar Blog "
Rumour of Spanish Ancestry ( don't know where that came from , probably a good guess ) - Married Sivestre Gantuangco in 1815 and she was younger than him ( he was 19 ) taken from the baptism file . Ok lets go for the ages of ( 16 to 19 ) back we go into the family website - the years would be about ( 1813 to 1815 )when she was born. Not a problem coming forward to the present day , I see , Their is a 4 lane motor way on their ancestry all the way till today. If you want to , in your own time you can follow that if you want to . Knowing that it is all their , from that stage forward is great news. Put what you have coming forward, put it in your working file.We are going to try and shake something out of nothing .Lets put " Leyson " in Spain & Mexico ( **> why Mexico ? = cause that is the way the Spanish Galleons sailed to the Philippines . _ we'll come back to that < ** ) We have nothing .Ok - lets throw the " Leyson " into the google translation - Click on English to Spanish - Leyson in Spanish is spelt - " Laya or de Laya " While we are here at this site lets check out the Mexican name for " Leyson " = = the same = " Laya ". We now have a possibility that the family possibly arrived from - Spain or Mexico - and the name could have been changed from " de Laya or Laya to Leyson " > back to our family website , in goes " Laya " and we have hundreds of them . Now we are in trouble . Nothing in the BDM records match up to or within the dates we are looking for . It is quite possible the records were destroyed in the Japenese / American , world war 2 or the american / spanish war in 1889 or by the dutch or English , when they also had ago at conquering the Philippines . ** > thats a lot of - ' OR 's < ** . We are certainly not finding any official records - BDM or otherwise . To get an inkling of -- or a possibility of where the " Leyson ( Laya ) blood lines may have come from , we may have to surmize a possibility with out any proof and " note " it on any record we are going to Keep / print / etc' . Normally we would obey one of the " golden rules " of Genealogy and that is
" keep / print- only what you have proven 100 % . That means you keep your good researcher's name clean & respected and also it doesn't tell the truth to the family you are possibly researching for. I am going to make a cuppa !! and decide on the matter . Well you may ask decide what ? == ** > Ok , we are on an exercise on Ancestry research and how to ,& in general set about doing it . It could be a good experience to ,( I hope ,) for the followers of this exercise, to see what they can hunt out , is it a real possibility ?, When do we say " Not proven " just a guess and be honest to every one . Will it assist anyone now or in the future ? We have to be very careful with this . !!! Good guesses or possibilities have a habit , over time in our Ancestry knowledge of being accepted, as the truth ,then " this is the real story " when all along it never was . Will I go this way , as an exercise in Ancestry workings , to assist or have an inkling of their possible Ancestors . ? Or -- stop and do nothing ? . I am going to think it over , over a cuppa , see you soon - regards -- edmondsallan
