edmondsallan - Hello - I am copying & pasting these records from Pearls Pad .net .nz. This website has much information even though it is not being maintained . At the International conference for genealogists in june 2008 ( 5 days ) .Canada - reps from twenty ( 20 ) countries attended . Many things were discussed many but not all were past.
The theme for the Quebec International genalogical & heraldy conference was " Access to Genealogical Records " also faster and easier access world wide . Be interesting to see and read what future recommendations they go with
Some recommendations were made . One of the biggest forums and discussion was on the buying up of websites world wide and selling their data back to the public . Concern was shown for the down turn in research by the younger people coming into genealogy . It was said they just wanted to see the results and not pay for nor do physically the research work invovled . Several suggestions was recommended including copy and paste , which in turn exposed much more detail & of the site data & in doing so enhanced the website and original researcher by more repetitive & quicker usage . I am inclined to go along with those thoughts.I think it may be just the thing to enhance some of the data exposure when many just can't afford to pay for their costly research or in many cases both parents are working , and do not get the time to find a website and spend time their , typing / copying - altering and all the other things we know needs doing with research .Once upon a time - Copying & pasting was considered to be
very damaging for Genealogy World wide and it was classed as a no no !
Not so today . Many genealogists who do this sort of work professionally for a living in many countries including our own use the copy & paste genealogical method to get the paid for enquiry back quicker to the person who contracted them I am old fashioned in this genalogy research work , and I have had to move with the times
and accept this type of method from fellow genealogists I contracted to find overseas ancestors . I think it might be to late by about 8 years to say its not acceptable . Its here and its working and achieving results even those beginning their ancestry research are using this faster method . certainly makes us oldies think whats next .
Interesting thoughts , new ideas . thats what makes the world tick .
