Ellen Mckearney
Ellen McKearney was adopted by Christina Cockburn in 1893. An trying to find her birth parents. Not sure if McKearney was father or mothers name.She was born in Wellington in 1889 and lived with Cockburns in Marton New Zealand.

Yes thanks very much for that,I had found that myself. I don't think she is the right one as our Ellen was adopted in 1893 and her age is 4 years old. We have her adoption papers with that on ,but she was not registered at birth. Also adoption papers state she was illigitimate so parents probably have different names. I think this one died in 1917 and ours lived til 1970. Many thanks.

I have not found the birth records yet for Ellen McKearney which means she may have been registered under her father's name, her mother being the McKearney or she was not registered at all ..
Did Ellen marry David Bryce MORRISON (1873-1943) in 1918 ?? as Ellen Cockburn, this Ellen died in 1970 aged 81
Yes that is our Ellen. Thank you for your help.Very much appreciated. I will keep trying all avenues. It said on adoption papers"mothers where abouts unknown" but didn't give her name.
