Emma May B CA 1860 Ohio Adopted by Alvan Sarah Cloud

Alvan and Sarah lived in Clinton Co., Ohio at the time; Alvan had at least one son from his first marriage to Lydia Ann Dean; he and Sarah CHURCH married in 1856, and were still childless in the 1860 census. Although, there were two children listed in their household: Mary SIMMINS(?hard to read),age 13, and Micheal(same last name),age 5. Could these names be clues? The census enumerator had some legibility problems, but there seemed to be other Simmins and Simmons names in the same area, with young children...
